ELS Tech Update: Frequently Asked Questions

    General Questions
  1. Q: When will the ELS Tech Update be implemented?
  2. A: The ELS Tech Update is scheduled to go live on 10 Jan 2025. An email notification will be sent and notices will be put up prior to the go-live date.

  3. Q: Why is this Tech Update necessary?
  4. A: This update is designed to enhance security, improve system performance, and provide a better user experience by transitioning to modern web technologies and browsers.

    Browser Changes
  5. Q: Which browsers will be supported after the Tech Update?
  6. A: ELS1 will be supported by Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Internet Explorer (IE) will no longer be supported.

  7. Q: I've always used Internet Explorer. Do I need to install a new browser?
  8. A: Yes, please install either Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge if you don't already have them. Please also refer to the guide to deactivate Internet Explorer if you are using Microsoft Edge.

  9. Q: Will my saved bookmarks and passwords transfer to the new browser?
  10. A: Most modern browsers offer import features for bookmarks and passwords. We recommend checking your new browser's settings for import options.

  11. Q: Our company uses Group Policy settings that enforce IE mode. What should we do?
  12. A: You will need to initiate your internal processes to deactivate IE Mode and remove the ELS1 URLs through your Group Policy Editor. Please approach your IT department for further details. This may be a lengthy process, so we recommend starting as soon as possible.

    Singpass Signing and Netrust nSign Desktop
  13. Q: How is Singpass signing done?
  14. A: Singpass signing requires your Singpass mobile application. There are minimal changes to the existing ELS1 signing workflow. Once you choose the Singpass Sign option, a QR code will be presented for you to scan with your Singpass mobile application. Refer to this guide [link] for more details.

  15. Q: Which forms can I use Singpass signing for?
  16. A: 43 digital forms now allow for Singpass signing on top of the existing Netrust Token signing. Refer to this guide [link] for full list of forms.

  17. Q: Will I need to install a new version of Netrust nSign Desktop?
  18. A: Although your existing nSign Desktop v3.3.6 will still work with your token. It is recommended to install the latest stable version of nSign Desktop, v3.3.7. You may visit Netrust Downloads to download and install the latest version. Downloads - Netrust

  19. Q: Will the new Netrust nSign Desktop work differently?
  20. A: The method of signing via Token will remain the same, but you may notice some improvements in performance.

    Single Sign-On (SSO)
  21. Q: How will the new Single Sign-On (SSO) feature work?
  22. A: SSO will allow you to access both ELS1 and ELS2 with a single login. Once you're logged in to one system, you will be able to switch between them without needing to log in again.

  23. Q: Will I need new login credentials for the SSO?
  24. A: Your existing credentials will work with the new SSO system. There's no need to create new login information.

    Transition and Support
  25. Q: Will there be any downtime during the transition?
  26. A: All necessary system updates will be scheduled during off-peak hours. You may refer to the Announcement titled [ELS Technology Update] for further details.

  27. Q: Will training be provided on the new system?
  28. A: We provide user guides to help you navigate the changes. Please refer to the ELS Tech Update Guides for details on the guides.

  29. Q: Who should I contact if I encounter issues after the Tech Update?

    Data and Security
  31. Q: Will the Tech Update affect my existing data or saved work?
  32. A: No, all your existing data and saved work will be preserved during the transition.

  34. A: The move to modern browsers and the upgraded Netrust nSign Desktop will incorporate the latest security features and protocols, enhancing overall system security.
